Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) Shot
Medicare drug coverage (Part D) covers the RSV vaccine
Description
RSV vaccines can protect you from getting RSV, a respiratory virus that causes cold-like symptoms.
Coverage details
- Part D covers the RSV vaccine.
- Medicare Advantage Plans that include drug coverage will also cover drug benefits like the RSV vaccine.
Certain medical conditions and factors increase the risk for severe RSV. Adults 75 and older, and adults between 50–74 with certain conditions, are at high risk of having serious health complications from RSV. Talk to your doctor or other

to find out if you may be at increased risk.
How can I protect myself from other respiratory viruses?
Costs
You pay nothing for the RSV vaccine if you have Part D .
Part D covers all adult vaccines recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) that aren't covered under Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) , including vaccines for shingles, whooping cough, measles, and more. Your Part D plan won't charge you a copayment or deductible for vaccines that ACIP recommends.
Facility
You can get RSV vaccines in many places, including your doctor’s office and your local pharmacy.
Ask your doctor or healthcare provider how much your test, item, or service will cost.
Your doctor may recommend services that Medicare does not cover or offers too frequently. This could end up in additional costs for you. Make sure to ask your doctor about the reasons for these recommendations and what Medicare will actually cover.
Specific amounts you could owe depend on:
